Roles & Responsibilities of the Team Captain and Vice Captain

As Team Captain, with assistance from the Vice Captain, your primary roles are :

Umpires

Make sure you have an Umpire for all matches qualified to the correct Division standard for your team.

. How you seek umpires for your matches is co-ordinated by you.

. Make sure you have umpires booked well in advance.

. Ensure you have money from the Treasurer to pay the umpire.

. Remember the umpire is there for your team's benefit.

Refreshments

For all home matches co-ordinate the supply of Oranges and Juice for both yourselves and the opposing team.

If necessary ask the Treasurer for money to purchase Oranges and Juice, alternatively take it in turn within your team.

Team Performance

Co-ordinate the positioning of your team before and during matches, unless there is a qualified coach there to make changes they deem necessary, their decision is final.

If necessary, prior to any team changes, discuss with Vice Captain for their opinion.

Encourage open team discussion at quarter times to resolves any issues from previous quarters.

Encourage positive attitude even if someone has made a mistake. (We all know if we have made a mistake – we don't need to be told, and it only lets moral slip within the team causing team performance to slacken.)

Keep a log of Player of the Match and Players Player for Annual records.

Distribute trophies for the above after each match.

Attitude/Conflict & Issues

Bad behaviour and rudeness should not be tolerated either to the opposing team, each other or the umpire. If this happens this should be addressed immediately and in the appropriate manner.

Look out for any conflicting issues within the team, act and discuss as necessary.

If necessary speak to individuals with regard to any issues you think they may have and resolve if possible.

Any team issues should be addressed at committee meetings in order to be resolved.
